In observance of International Asteroid Day, join us at the Institute for a day packed with discovery and learning about the universe around us, FREE with general admission. Visitors will learn how to identify meteorites, build asteroid models, and get a hands-on experience with authentic meteorites from around the world, including asteroid impact glass from Southeast Asia and Western Egypt, and impact deposits from Western Australia, Marquette, Mich., and more. All ages welcome.

Additionally, guests will get the inside scoop from amateur astronomer and NASA Solar System Ambassador, Bob Trembley, about the rapid increase in asteroid discovery, as well as methods to protect Earth from asteroid impacts. At 1:30pm there will be an additional talk from our very own geologist, John Zawiskie, as he walks through the remarkable origin of Libyan Desert Glass from Southwest Egypt.
