Start at the Cranbrook Institute of Science with a morning tour of our Chocolate exhibit conducted by Cranbrook curator Cameron Wood. Then board a comfortable tour bus as we head to sample Ecuadorian chocolate and coffee in charming Dexter, Michigan. But along the way we will fortify ourselves with brunch at Zingerman’s Roadhouse in Ann Arbor. The menu will feature brunch staples and, for the adventuresome, biscuits with chocolate-bacon gravy. Then we will continue on to Dexter for a tour of Mindo Chocolate Makers. Mindo was founded by Jose Meza and Barbara Wilson. Using a “bean to bar” approach directly linking their Ecuadorian Cacao Farm to their chocolate making facility in Dexter, they have built a reputation for exceptional chocolate. As a part of this tour, attend a tasting and join a mini-class where you grind nibs and start a batch of chocolate!
