Shamrock Science Day!

Saturday, March 15 | 11:00am to 2:00pm | Museum will close at 3:00pm

Join us for Shamrock Science Day, a celebration of curiosity, discovery, and hands-on fun—designed and led by our talented Pontiac School District high school interns!

This event celebrates the dedication and achievements of 12 high school interns from the Pontiac School District’s International Technology Academy. At Cranbrook Institute of Science, we are committed to supporting the community by offering these interns academically and culturally enriching experiences that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and global citizenship.

Throughout their internship, these students have honed valuable skills in teamwork, time management, budgeting, and project development—and now, they’re excited to share their knowledge and celebrate with you!

Embark on a colorful adventure throughout the Institute, collecting stickers as you explore a rainbow of activities—and fill up your special activity card to win a prize!

Sticker card activities during this event include:

  • Blarney Bugs – Meet our hissing cockroaches and challenge yourself to try a crunchy insect snack!
  • Mystic Match – Can you identify some bright, beautiful mineral treasures? Match as many as you can.
  • Cosmic Canvas – Grab a foam ball and paint your favorite planet to take with you.
  • Paint the Rainbow – You may not find a pot o’ gold, but you will explore color theory and create a painting of your very own.
  • Butterfly Showdown – Color your own butterfly flyer, then wind it up and see how it flutters.
  • Fossil Frenzy – Help us prepare a real fossil fish, then race our volunteers to find a fossil.
  • Lucky Fossil Hunt - Help us prepare a real fossil fish, then excavate your own little dino treasure to take with you! [Lower Lobby!

This program is made possible through the generous support of the DeRoy Testamentary Foundation.
