No plans for Winter or Spring Break? No problem! Dive into hands-on experiments, explore the cosmos, and discover the wonders of science at our Winter and Spring Break Camps—new adventures every day!

Dig This! Our Winter and Spring Camps spotlight archaeology with our new traveling exhibition, Mystery of the Mayan Medallion! Campers will uncover the secrets of the Mayan civilization—exploring astronomy, numbers, glyphs, obsidian, shells, plants, and other hidden surprises!

Every day brings new programming, showcasing the museum’s unique exhibits and hands-on experiences. Sign up for one day or multiple. Winter and Spring Break Camps are designed for students in Grades 1-3.

WINTER BREAK CAMP SCHEDULE:

  • Camp meets daily from 9:00am – 3:00pm.
  • Camps run on February 16, 17, and/or 18 – sign up for one or all days.
  • Walk-up check-in begins promptly at 8:30am.

SPRING BREAK CAMP SCHEDULE:

  • Camp meets daily from 9:00am – 3:00pm.
  • Camps run on March 30, 31, April 1, and/or 2 – sign up for one or all days.
  • Walk-up check-in begins promptly at 8:30am.

LUNCH:

Please bring lunch and snacks (morning and afternoon) from home. All food must be free of peanuts, tree nuts, nut butters, sesame oil (tahini), and seeds. If a camper is registered with additional seed-related allergies, all parents will be notified prior to camp and may be asked to remove specific items—such as pumpkin seeds—from their child’s lunch if needed.

NOTE ON DAILY THEMES:

Our Explore Camps offer tailored topics and activities designed to meet the developmental needs of each grade level. Campers dive deep into the week’s main topic while exploring related disciplines that spark curiosity. The descriptions above provide an overview of what to expect, and all activities are adaptable to maximize engagement and learning.

PRICING:

1-3 Grades: $125 per day for non-members, $105 per day for CIS members

MEDICATIONS:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Institute camp staff are not authorized to administer medication. If your child requires medication during camp, please make arrangements for an adult associated with your child to come to the museum and administer it. In the case of an emergency, such as a severe allergic reaction, museum staff will act in good faith under the Good Samaritan Law to administer your child’s EpiPen.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY: (Applies to Institute of Science Winter and Spring Explore Camps only)

  • Refunds, minus a $50 per day processing fee, will be issued if the cancellation request is received and confirmed in writing or via email to cisreservations@cranbrook.edu at least 21 days before the Monday of the camp week.
