Spend the Evening Among the Stars

The Institute is now open Friday and Saturday until 10pm

Soar into space or discover the deep blue sea every Friday and Saturday night at Cranbrook. New late hours and reduced admission after 5pm each day make for an affordable evening out. Take in a planetarium show or visit the observatory. The Institute’s special exhibition, Extreme Deep: Mission to the Abyss is free with admission. Join us!

Dinosaurs - The Lost World

Opening July 2013

Dinosaurs - The Lost World is a stunning new, original exhibit whose primary focus is on the incredible diversity of dinosaurs, pterosaurs and marine reptiles of western North America.

As part of this historic event, the Institute of Science is offering an exclusive first-hand opportunity for its Members and supporters to adopt one of the dinosaurs in the exhibition.

Special Hours at the Institute of Science

The Institute will OPEN to the public at 5pm on Saturday, May 18 and Saturday, June 1. We will be closed during the day both days for private events. We will be CLOSED to the public all day on Sunday, June 9. We apologize for any inconvenience these adjusted hours may cause.

Lecture: Tiny Bird, Big Story

May 23 at 6:30pm

Cranbrook Institute of Science welcomes author William Rapai and Abigail Ertel of Huron Pines who will present an examination of the Kirtlands warbler. Returning from the brink of extinction, this bird, North America’s rarest songbird, is a Michigan success story of partnerships across political and ecological boundaries. Tickets are $5. Courtesy of the MASCO Corporation Foundation, admission to the Institute of Science is free after 5pm the first Friday of each month through June 2013.
