Museum Hours

Tuesday-Thursday: 10am to 5pm
Friday/Saturday: 10am to 10pm
Sunday: Noon to 4pm

The Institute of Science will OPEN to the public at 5pm on Saturday, May 18 and Saturday, June 1. We will be CLOSED to the public all day on Sunday, June 9.

Mondays throughout the school year the Institute is available for school groups only and are closed to the public except during Holiday and school breaks. The Institute will be open to the public the following Mondays in 2013: January 21; February 18; April 1; December 23.

Reflections Cafe

Weekdays: 7:45am to 3pm
Saturday: 11am to 3pm
Sunday: Noon to 3pm

Closed Mondays except where noted Labor Day-Memorial Day, New Year's Eve and Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day - September 8, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day.

Courtesy of the MASCO Corporation Foundation, admission to the Institute of Science is free after 5pm the first Friday of each month through June 2013.

Planetarium Tickets

  • General Fee: $5 per program plus museum admission
  • CIS Members: $4 per program
  • Children under 2 years: $1 per program

Observatory

The observatory is free with museum admission and is open every Friday/Saturday from 8:30 - 10pm during daylight savings and 7:30 - 10pm during standard time. It is also open the first Sunday of the month from 1 - 4pm for safe viewing of the sun. Observatory hours are subject to change based upon the current or expected weather conditions. For specific information about observatory hours, please call ahead at 248 645.3200, and press 0.

Live Bat Program Tickets

  • General Fee: $5 per show plus museum admission
  • CIS & OBC Members: $4 per show (OBC members pay museum admission)
  • Children under 2 years: $1 per show
