Cranbrook Institute of Science is offering its popular Dino Prep Lab activity from 1 to 4 PM on select Saturday afternoons in the winter and early spring – the dates are February 15, March 8, April 12 and May 10. Visitors will have the opportunity to help remove and conserve real 69 to 66 million year old fossils of dinosaurs and related animals from Late Cretaceous rocks of the Lance Formation in Eastern Wyoming.  These events are FREE with admission.

In the Shadow of the Dinosaurs

Paleontologist and Adjunct Curator of Paleontology at Cranbrook Institute of Science John Hankla will discuss his twenty years of exploration of the prolific Late Cretaceous fossil beds of the Lance Formation of eastern Wyoming. John will discuss how one of the last dinosaur communities on Earth lived, and the critical role played by his diminutive field crew – the western harvester ant – in recovering the teeth and other bones of the small animals in the community.
