Encounters with Vampire Bats
Date:
December 22, 2010 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Location:
Cranbrook Institute of Science Gerry Carter, PhD student at the University of Maryland and visiting
researcher at the Bat Zone, and Rob Mies, Director of the Organization
for Bat Conservation will reveal the secrets of vampire bats at a free
lecture on Wednesday, December 22 at 1pm. Everyone has heard of vampire
bats, but few people really understand them. Shrouded in mystery, the
vampire has been the star of countless fictional stories. The vampire
bat has also been the subject of some of the most fascinating true
stories in biology. Incredibly, the facts about vampire bats are even
more remarkable than the myths they've helped inspire. This event
includes and up close look at a real vampire bat!
This lecture is free with admission and seating is available on a first come, first seated basis.
